Mashantucket Pequot Museum Announces Tahshayooôk & Neetôpáwak (Family & Friends) Days Set for July & August 2025

(Mashantucket, Conn.) – The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is excited to announce Tahshayooôk & Neetôpáwak (Family & Friends) Days during the summer of 2025! Families with children of all ages are invited to enjoy engaging, hands-on experiences that celebrate Indigenous culture, creativity, and community.

Taking place on select days throughout July and August, Tahshayooôk & Neetôpáwak (Friends & Family) Days offer fun-filled activities including interactive artmaking, cultural demonstrations, and storytelling that highlight traditional Pequot and other Indigenous lifeways. These events are designed to inspire learning and connection across generations in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

“Friends & Family Days are about spending time together, learning from one another, and honoring the cultures that connect us,” said Joshua Carter, Executive Director of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. “We named this series Tahshayooôk & Neetôpáwak, the Pequot words for ‘friends’ and ‘family’, to celebrate the beauty of our language and share it in a way that feels welcoming and meaningful. It’s about building memories and passing knowledge forward through shared experiences.”

Museum members will receive exclusive access to additional in-person programming, including workshops with Indigenous artists and educators.
