Elders Council

The Elders Council is composed of all Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Members aged 55 years and over. The Elders Council brings cultural knowledge, life experience and sage wisdom into all of their considerations–including but not limited to determining tribal membership, reporting on the state of the Tribal Nation to the Tribal Council and community, participating in tribal events, welcoming visiting dignitaries, and ensuring Mashantucket is a safe place to live and work. The authority of the Elders Council is established under Article XII of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe’s Constitution and Bylaws.

The Elders Council oversees the Cultural Resources Department and works regularly with the Tribal Council to address thoughts, concerns and goals affecting the tribal community.
