Pequot Museum

The world’s largest tribally owned and operated museum of its kind, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center is a 308,000 square-foot Smithsonian affiliated non-profit educational institution of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Government which seeks to further knowledge and understanding of the richness and diversity of Pequot history and culture, the natural history of southeastern Connecticut, and the history and cultures of tribes throughout the United States and Canada.

Today, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center continues its legacy as a world-renowned cultural and educational center. As a must-see educational destination, the Museum has received several AAA Magazine Readers’ Choice awards, the AAA Gem Designation award, a Green Roof Award of Excellence, an NAACP Freedom Fund Award, just to name a few. Likewise, the Museum’s numerous films have received accolades, including the U.S. International Film and Video Awards’ Creative Excellence Award, a Crystal Award of Excellence, two Awards of Distinction by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, and two Silver Medals by the Worldfest Flagstaff Film Festival. The facility’s unique architectural design has also received noteworthy recognition, including but not limited to the National Honor Award and the Innovative Design and Excellence in Architecture with Steel Award, both presented by American Institute of Architects.
