Chaney has been selected for induction into the Connecticut State Firefighters Association (CSFA) Hall of Fame, Class of 2025. This prestigious honor recognizes Chief Chaney’s remarkable contributions and unwavering commitment to fire and emergency services throughout his distinguished career.
With over 37 years of experience in fire and emergency management, Chief Chaney has exemplified leadership and dedication. For the past eight years, he has served as the Fire Chief of the Mashantucket Pequot Fire Department (MPFD), ensuring the highest level of fire protection and emergency medical services for the Tribal Nation and its enterprises, including Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Under his guidance, the MPFD has not only provided services to the Mashantucket community but has also extended mutual aid to surrounding areas, enhancing regional safety and collaboration. Chief Chaney’s commitment to continuous improvement has led to specialized training programs and the acquisition of advanced equipment, significantly elevating the department’s preparedness and response capabilities.
Chief Chaney’s career encompasses leadership roles across multiple fire departments, including the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department and the Town of Montville. His expertise spans fire investigations, safety inspections, incident command, crisis management, and adherence to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Connecticut Fire Safety Codes.
The CSFA Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 4, 2025, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Connecticut, where Chief Chaney will be honored alongside other distinguished inductees. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation extends its heartfelt congratulations to Chief Chaney on this well-deserved recognition.
