WHEN: Saturday, August 23, 2025 – Arrive between 10 AM and 12 noon for credentialing and admission

WHAT: An exclusive Media invitation to cover the ceremonial flag raising ceremony on Saturday at 10 a.m. as well as the weekend events, including interview opportunities with Rodney Butler, (Tribal Chairman), Daniel Menihan (Tribal Councilor), Wayne Reels (Cultural Resources Director), and more.  Traditional and contemporary Native dances, live music, craft vendors and authentic Native cuisine—including a historic 17^th century Pequot Village reenactment depicting the early Eastern Woodland Native life, featuring the traditional practices of wampum making, beadwork, basketry, and open fire cooking demonstrations.

IN DETAIL:  Media representatives are invited to an exclusive Media invitation for Saturday, August 23^rd to cover our Annual Schemitzun: Feast of Green Corn and Dance.  Photo, video and interview opportunities are available. Please arrive between 10 AM and 12 noon for credentialing and admission. 

Gates open to the public at 10 AM on Saturday August 23.  Grand Entry begins at 12 noon, showcasing hundreds of dancers representing tribes throughout New England and beyond.  Dance competitions will follow each Grand Entry. 

The event features traditional and contemporary dance exhibitions, live music, arts and crafts and traditional Native cuisine. A 17^th century reenactment of a Pequot Eastern Woodland Village will showcase open fire cooking demonstrations among other traditional practices, including wampum making, loom textiles and beadwork, and basketry.

SCHEDULE:   

Friday August 22: 7 PM Grand Entry

Saturday August 23: 10 AM to 10 PM (Grand Entry at 12 noon and 7 PM)

Sunday August 24: 10 AM to 6 PM (Grand Entry at 12 noon only).
